Purpose: ArtSpace will be a cooperative environment designed for those engaged in material arts, written prose, graphic design and other creative works. The space offers the creative class an atmosphere that emphasizes productivity, ingenuity and relationships.

 

Vision: A community among creatives, independents and entrepreneurs that translates into increased sustainability of arts and technology businesses within downtown Fort Wayne. The result is an increased number of independently-owned creative business ventures, corporations, retailers and galleries within downtown.

 

Customer Base: Through discussions with various members of creative class, in addition to a number of civic and community leaders, it has been established the ArtSpace’s target customers will include: (1) painters, (2) sketch-artist, (3) materials artists (jewelry), (4) videographers/photographers, (5) graphic designers, (6) architects and (7) writers. It is anticipated that there will be a market for ArtSpace beyond the targeted groups, therefore the following consumer markets will be:

 

·        Business travelers that have their own office space but need additional work and meeting space on a periodic basis. 

·        Technology consultants that work out of their home and coffee shops.

·        Those who are employed in the healing arts, such as massage therapists or success coaches that meet in clientele homes or businesses, yet lack a professional office for billing and communication purposes.

·        Marketing and sales personnel who utilize home offices and complete tasks in coffee shops and personal/work vehicles.

·         Nonprofit boards and professional networking groups who need to conduct business in a private setting.   

 

Location

ArtSpace will operate in the central core of the city limits of Fort Wayne. Preferably in a building within the boundaries of Broadway Street (East), Clay Street (West), Superior Street (North) and Wallace Street (South). However, if no acceptable location is found within this vicinity, properties within the Lakeside and West Central neighborhoods will be considered.   The facility will need to be near main-line transportation (bus), main throughfare (auto) and Rivergreenway (bicycle and foot). The centralized location will give individuals quick access to art galleries (Fort Wayne Museum of Art, ArtLink, Kaufman Gallery, Castle Gallery and S.O.M.A.) and local universities (Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana Purdue University of Fort Wayne, University of Saint Francis and Taylor University –Fort Wayne). Additionally, a downtown location will benefit from out-of-town guests who are attending conventions or festivals.

  • 1836 South Calhoun

  • Drek's Building: Corner of Superior Street and Wells Street

  • Size: 1,500 – 3,000 square feet
  • Facility Offerings: Large room for general work space, two to four small offices for secure work and conference room for confidential meetings and various presentations.
  • Technology: Verizon FIOS, Centralized Alarm                      
  • Other Spaces: Kitchenette and Closets                       
  • Parking: On-site parking or near-by parking for 10 to 20 vehicles
  • Recreational Access: Rivergreenway, Headwaters Park, Central YMCA, Cinema Center, Embassy Theatre and Harrison Square.
  • Acess to hotels and other essential places of businesses for out-of-town workers and convention goers.
  • Ease to Fort Wayne Museum of Art, ArtLink, Kaufman Gallery, Castle Gallery and other artist galleries.

 

Provided Services and Opportunities

 

ArtSpace will offer clientele a combination of resources and services ideally designed to address the above-mentioned issues. The affordability of the space in combination of conference space, and a downtown location will allow an enjoyable work environment.

 

Business Services

In addition to a basic workspace, ArtSpace will offer a full range of business support services available either as part of a membership package or a la carte.

·        ArtSpace will be a registered Commercial Mail Receiving Agent (CMRA) allowing the entity to serve as a mailing address for customers under their own business names.

·        ArtSpace will have corporate accounts with USPS, UPS and Fed-Ex allowing members to ship and receive letters and packages to their clientele on site.

·        ArtSpace will have corporate account with ABM or other copier provider to offer black/white and other colored copy services.

·        ArtSpace will have in-coming and out-going fax service.

·        ArtSpace will have locker storage for materials and equipment.

·         ArtSpace will file storage for members.

 

Networking Opportunities

The intentional benefit of ArtSpace will be a community of creative class members who share resources to benefit others. To emphasize the building of community formal and informal networking sessions will be held on a regular basis. It is intended that formal networking sessions will be offered during breakfast and lunch meetings, in addition to regular gallery nights and professional development workshops.

 

In addition to the above-mentioned offerings, ArtSpace will offer artist monthly collaborative meetings where they can sell their pieces of work to guest and friends of the community, in addition, a virtual studio will be offered to members who wish to sell their wares.

 

Prospective Membership Rates and Services

 

Drop-In/Non-member

 

Full Day Drop-In: $18.00 Per Day

This user might be the traveling businessperson, or someone referred by a member, who is not yet a member but wants to use ArtSpace’s facilities. 

Benefits Included: A day of working with the group, workspace (table, desk or couch—based upon availability), free local phone calls and Verizon FIOS. 

Part-Day Drop-In: $15.00

 

This user needs to use ArtSpace an occasional basis for a morning or afternoon. 

Benefits Included: A day of working with the group, workspace (table, desk or couch – based upon availability), free local phone calls and Verizon FIOS. 

 

Evening Drop-In: $10.00

This user needs to use ArtSpace an occasional basis for an evening, three to six hours.

Benefits: An evening of working with the group, workspace (table, desk or couch – based upon availability), free local phone calls and Verizon FIOS. 

 

Weekend Membership: $150.00

The Weekend Membership option is for those individuals who desire to have a desk and office resources available on the weekend. This will be a good option for those with business interests or hobbies that are separate from their main occupation.

Benefits: Access to all business services, with increased priority on workspaces and conference room usage, during the weekends.

 

Evening Membership: $75.00

The Evening Membership is for those individuals who desire to have a desk and office resources available two to three nights per week. This is an excellent option for those with business interests or hobbies that are different than their main occupations.

Benefits: Access to all business services, with increased priority on workspaces and conference room usage, during the evenings.

 

Flexible Membership: $225 per month

The Flexible Membership option is for those individuals who desire to have a desk and office resources whenever they need, but don’t need a desk five days a week.

Benefits: Access to all business services, with increased priority on workspaces and conference room usage, up to three days a week.

 

Full Time Membership: $325 per month

Full time members are people who wish to use the coworking office as their full-time office.

Benefits: Access to all business services, with option of permanent desk. These members have the first priority on conference space.
