Check out a truly shared space in the heart of Manchester, facing Piccadilly Gardends. eOffice Manchester (www.eoffice.net) , recently won the British Council of Office Innovation Award, located at 1 Portland Street, M13BE (manchester@eoffice.net). Capacity of 100 workstations, 60% open plan, full time options from £299.99 per month and hot desking from £99.99 per month. Plenty of startups using the space, and monthly networking events.

I'm interested in setting up a co-working base in the centre of Manchester. I've found a possible site about 5 minutes from Piccadilly on the edge of the Manchester University Northern campus that I'm investigating. It's a great space, with plenty of natural light and is an almost blank space to work on.

Interested?

Unfortunately unscrupulous types people who didn't think it through have been harvesting e-mails off this page to offer office space to people in Manchester. I'm taking the matter up with them directly to ensure they don't do it again. They have apologised and said they won't do it again. However, we do need a better way of managing this than putting stuff up here on the wiki now there is some solid interest.

I have just created a Google Group that will be starting to get busy over the next day or two over at http://groups.google.com/group/co-working-manchester

Please feel free to join in.

Pier Paolo Mucelli:I can see a lot of old posting, somehow coworking has not caught up in Manchester. In the meantime Manoj, good to see that you are using eOffice Manchester, the only shared space in the city.
Anonymous:Im guessing the extra is in decorating, purchasing equipment and furniture etc at the start, if a cheaper long term rent is what people are after ? Im thinking great idea and wondering if a mix of OpenDoor and OpenPlan is a possibility.
Shaun:I don't think that forming a co-op necessarily means a lot more commitment or work. There are new models available now for forming "cooperative consortiums" (yes, I know, it's "consortia" in Latin) which allow flexible relationships between the coop and members
